Homemade Honey-Almond Scrub

Here’s an easy to make honey almond scrub recipe that also doubles as a masque. I made this one today and used it on my friend Monica. Her skin was so soft and dewy afterwards!

The almonds make a gentle manual exfoliating scrub. The honey acts as a hydration and a soothing anti-inflammatory. The coconut milk is cleansing and moisturizing.  The cinnamon is great for circulation and moving toxins out of the skin.

 

 

The Ingredients:

 

1.  1/4 Cup Raw Almonds (Ground up in blender). Be careful not to over blend , or you may end up with almond butter!

 

2.  1 Tablespoon Raw Honey

 

3.  2 Tablespoons Coconut Milk

 

4.  1 Pinch of  Cinnamon

 

Carefully grind raw almonds in your blender or food processor (pulse).

Separately mix in the raw honey with the coconut milk and the cinnamon.

 

Almond Scrub

 

Add in your ground almonds and mix with spoon or wooden stick. Add additional coconut milk if necessary for desired consistency. Preferably thick.

 

~You can use this scrub all over the body. Apply to dampened skin and rub in circular motions. Let sit for at least ten minutes for masque benefits, then rinse off with warm water and/or a wash cloth.

Homemade Seaweed Masque


SEAWEED

You can create your own seaweed masque simple and easy at home. Seaweed has so many wonderful properties in it for skin health and overall appearance. It is loaded with minerals and anti inflammatory properties.

This masque also has many other ingredients that make it a wonderful alternative to expensive store bought masques.

The ingredients are all active, fresh and natural without any preservatives.

This masque works for any skin type!

Here are the ingredients:

1. 1 cup of Irish Moss Seaweed soaked for 8 hours or more. (Fully immerse in a jar of water, store in fridge over night until plumped)

2. 1/2 of a Fresh Ripe Organic Avocado

3. 1/4 Cup of Organic Whole Plain Yogurt

4. 1 Tablespoon of Organic Raw Honey

5. 1/2 Cup of Coconut Milk

6. 1 Tablespoon of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. This may take several minutes depending on your blender. Chill Masque in fridge for 2 hours. Apply over cleansed, exfoliated skin. You may use this recipe all over your body and store it in the fridge for up to a week.

You also might want to add more coconut milk for consistency after being stored for a few days.

Leave masque on for 10-15 minutes, then gently remove with a warm wash cloth.

Make sure to moisturize and add sunscreen after use to avoid sun damage. This recipe includes lemon juice which is a natural exfoliant.

IRISH MOSS~

Can be purchased at your local health food store or online at Amazon and other places. This is an excellent anti-inflammatory.

It also helps to move toxins out of the skin and body (when taken internally). Reduces redness and irritation.

Nourishes the skin with essential minerals missing in most modern diets.

Avocados are rich with vitamin A which helps to remove dead skin cells from your body. They also contain an amino acid known as glutamine, which cleans and protects your skin from environmental damage. The antioxidants in avocados help to get rid of toxins that promote premature aging and wrinkling of the skin.

RAW HONEY~

Acne and enlarged pores
Rosacea
Eczema
Hyperpigmentation
Sensitive, mature, and dull lifeless skin

* Raw honey also contains gluconic acid, a mild alpha hydroxy acid that brightens the complexion, evens out skin tone, and lightens scars and age spots.

COCONUT MILK~

The great thing about Coconut milk is that it’s extremely high in fat, which makes it the perfect cleanser to use on the skin. Most of the dirt on our skin consists of various oils and other fat-soluble materials. This is the reason that you can’t shower with water alone and expect to truly get clean; oils only really want bind to other oils.

Since Coconut milk is high in fat, it will easily pick up all these fat-soluble particles, leaving your skin clean and fresh, but not completely dried out afterwards.

Coconut is full of antioxidants, and is also thought to be possibly antibacterial in nature. Those with acne especially can benefit from these possible antibacterial properties.

LEMON JUICE~

Lemon juice may aid in diminishing the appearance of scars and age spots. It may also reduce the appearance of scars left behind from acne lesions. The citric acid contained in lemon juice works as a mild skin peel by removing the outermost layer of your skin and reducing shine.

ORGANIC PLAIN YOGURT~

When applied topically, yogurt will moisturize, fight acne, prevent premature aging, soothe sunburn and help prevent discoloration of the skin.
